What to plant in...
AUTUMN

Beetroot
Preferred variety: Crimson Globe
Hints & Tips: Soak seeds overnight in water to soften before planting.
Sow directly into the patch around 1.5cm deep and 5-10cm apart. Keep the soil moist until seedlings emerge and then thin out, so they have enough room to grow.
Water 2-3 times per week for the first month and then once a week.

Garlic
Hints & Tips: Plant individual sprouting garlic cloves direct into patch pointy end up to a depth of 2-3 cm, 10-15 cm apart.
Water 2-3 times a week after planting and then once a week unless unusually hot. When the ends start to turn yellow stop watering completely so the garlic bulb hardens. Harvest the garlic when the ends wither and hang in a dark place for at least 2 weeks until dry. Store for 2 months.

Water regularly to keep the soil moist. Cut green stalks for use in garnishing dishes or harvest the plant after around 8-12 weeks.
