Cucumbers
Preferred variety: Continental
Hints & Tips: Cucumbers like full sun, but can tolerate partial shade. Sow seeds direct into the patch, 1.5cm deep.
A trellis system is helpful for cucumber plants as it keeps the fruit and foliage off the ground, making it easy to pick and reducing disease appearance in the plant. Assist initially by using plant tie, eventually the plant will send out its own tendrils to cling onto the wooden stakes.

Corn
Preferred variety: Snowgold
Hints & Tips: Corn likes full sun and needs protection in the patch from strong winds which can bend and break the stalks.
Apply liquid seaweed fertiliser when planting and then once a month during the growth period.
Corn is ready when the silks or tassels at the top turn brown. Peel back the husk to see if the kernels are plump and golden before harvesting.

Strawberries
Preferred variety: Temptation
Hints & Tips: Plant strawberries in full sun in the patch. Either grow from seed or purchase runners from your local nursery.
Apply liquid seaweed fertiliser every 2-3 weeks.
Water strawberries regularly but avoid wetting the foliage to reduce fungal disease in the plant.
