SUMMER

Radish
Preferred variety: Sparkler
Hints & Tips: Plant radish seeds in full sun direct into the patch at a depth of 5mm. Seedlings usually only take around 7 days to emerge.
Pick radish leaves for salads before the root has finished forming.
Radish is a fast-growing vegetable, harvest 4-6 weeks after planting.

Broccoli
Preferred variety: Green Sprouting
Hints & Tips: Broccoli likes full sun.
Sow seeds into seed trays in a greenhouse or indoors and transplant seedlings to their permanent spot in the patch after 2-3 weeks, or when the seedlings are around 8cm high. Water 2-3 times per week initially and then once a week. After harvesting the main head of the broccoli, smaller shoots will grow as broccolini.

Chillies
Preferred variety: Sunstrike
Hints & Tips: Chillies need warm soil to germinate. Plant seedlings in a greenhouse or indoors in early Spring and transfer to the patch in Summer. Plant in the hottest position in the patch, or in pots in a sunny spot.
Keep the soil moist, but not wet.

Lettuce
Preferred variety: Oakleaf
Hints & Tips: Sew seeds direct into the patch at a depth of no more than 1cm. Thin out seedlings once established.
Water young seedlings daily for the first 2 weeks then as needed ongoing. Keep the soil moist. Apply liquid seaweed fertiliser every 2-4 weeks.
