What to plant in...
WINTER

Spinach
Hints & Tips: Plant from seed, 5cm apart. Thin out once seedlings form to around 20cm apart.
Water regularly, especially during hot weather. Harvest leaves regularly to promote further production.

Peas
Hints & Tips: Plant in full sun from seed. Plant 3-5cm deep into damp soil and leave for several days before watering so the seeds don’t rot.
Pea plants like to climb so they will need a structure to cling to, so plant at the base of a wire trellis.
Cook or eat peas raw immediately after harvesting for the best flavour.

Kale
Preferred variety: Curly Green
Hints & Tips: Sow seeds into seed trays in Autumn and transplant seedlings into the patch in early Winter.
Mulch and water regularly.
Kale likes it cold, and the best leaves are harvested in winter. Frost even improves the flavour of kale!

Raspberries
Preferred variety: Autumn Bliss
Hints & Tips: Plant canes around 30cm apart and spread sugarcane mulch across the area to prevent weed growth. The cane will produce fruit in the second year, although some varieties fruit in the first year and produce a second smaller crop the following Summer. Cut down old canes in the Winter after the harvest has finished to make way for new growth the next season.
